Is it possible to live in a world without debt? I ask myself that question as I continue on my journey to a life that is debt-free. It is hard to escape credit cards. No matter where we turn, there are low interest rate

Ans:

Some credit card companies will offer responsible users a 0% interest rate for as much as up to 18 months. Cash will always be King!

And this is my statement

Exactly, because without we know, that a company brave to offer users 0% interest rate for every thing that we buy, indirectly it will support us to spend our money to buy everything that we do not actually need. And it will make us have debt. Thanks

Elicitation

What’s the meaning of elicitation? can you define it? let’s discuss about it here?

In BABOK’s Guide, at chapter 3: Elicitation. explained what’s the meaning of elicitation

Elicitations is how a business analyst work with stakeholders to identify and gather requirements and understand their needs and concerns. In this section, an analyst do consist of four main part

a. Building a detail elicitation schedule for specific activity

b. Meeting with stakeholders to conduct the elicitation activity

c. Documenting, recording elicitation results. and confirming elicitation result with stakeholder

so from all the user need will divide what’s module can be developed, when, and what module can’t build.

I think it’s important thing that must prepare for it. is it right?

Some roles of the Business Analyst

According to you, what’s the roles of a business analyst? the most important role a business analyst is like a glue. An analyst must capable to communicate with all of parties. The other roles of a business analyst are listener, questioner, synthesizer, documenter and surveyor, decision maker.

Persiapan interview untuk seseorang yang ingin menjadi Business Analyst

Berdasarkan pengalaman saya yang lalu, dimana di awal 2013. saya berharap untuk bisa menjadi seorang business analyst. Setelah saya menjalani pekerjaan saya semenjak saya lulus D3 pada September 2010. saya bekerja menjadi seorang developer di software house khusus banking. Begitu banyak pengalaman yang saya dapatkan dari sana. Hingga sekarang saya banya belajar apalagi sampai saat ini saya menjadi Asistant Team Leader. Mulai dari management team, project management, dan juga ilmu dan skill tentang development project yang membutuhkan skill yang baik.

Sedangkan saya menyadari bahwa saya masih sangat kurang dalam bidang teknikal, But it’s not matter as long as we have spirit to learn and learn every time.

Awal 2013 hingga Maret  2013 saya mengambil cuti, sebelumnya saya sudah prepare untuk mengambil kerjaan di bidang business analyst. Dan saya sangat bersyukur akhirnya saya mendapatkan  banyak pelajaran dari situ dan saya sangat bersyukur juga ada teman saya yang mensupport saya untuk mendapatkannya. Thanks abg.

Ha yang perlu diprepare adalah:

1. Yakinkan dirimu apa benar passionmu dibidang business analisis.

2. Joint ke group business analisis di linkedIn ataupun di group mna yang bisa mensupport dirimu dekat ke tujuannmu.

3. Mempelajari apa sih yang perlu dimiliki dan dibenahi untuk menjadi business analysis

4. Cari environment dimana dirimu sudah terbiasa. so akan lebih enak jika sebelumnya anda bekerja di bidang finance anda menjadi seoarang business analyst dibidang finance juga. But it tidak keharusan.

5. Persiapkan pengetahuan anda kemana anda melamar

6. Perbaiki linkedIn anda, karena pengalaman banyak interviewer itu akan melihat profile anda di LinkedIn

7. Biasakan menulis di dalam blog, aktif di komuniti, dll. Karena dengan menulis mereka akan menilai sejauh mana anda tahu akan pekerjaan di bidang analyst itu, apalagi kita masih fress garduate untuk bidang tersebut, Hanya untuk membantu meyakinkan mereka kalau kita itu sanggup menjadi seorang business analyst.

8. Pelajari soal2 yang berhubungan dengan pertanyaan2 yang ditanyakan saat interview

9. Pelajari studi kasus yang biasa di bidang software development

How important is domain knowledge for a business analyst ?

guys, what’s your opinion about that?

Aaron Whittenberger, CBAP said that he feel that industry domain is important to the BA role; however, it can be learned on the job. It would be impossible to operate as a BA within an organization without know some of the intricacies of the industry within the organization operates. It is possible to move from industry to industry, so this is something that can be learned on the job, but it must be learned quickly.

and my opinion about that is :

“I agree to him. Because the most important thing before we decide a solution or do something in an environment we must know and we must recognize it in detail. So it will help us to choose what’s the better way in that project quickly, effectively.”

What is a Business Systems Analyst? is it same with Business Analyst?

Technical Business Analyst must have strong functional design experience. In my opinion each company has a different definition of what a Business Analyst is or a Business System Analyst. And also there the small company commonly combine business and system analyst be one. But in the large company, both of the are separated.

So if you want to apply for a job you have to know detail what their definition is of a Business Analyst or Systems Analyst or combine of them: be a Business Systems Analyst?

A Business Analyst will gathers business requirements then analyses and documents these requirements clearly. And products of a business analyst are feasibility study, business case, process models, conceptual/logical data models (not physical), organizational models, requirements documents.

A Systems Analyst work at the system specification level. and products of a system analyst are system specifications, UML sequence diagrams, UML Activity diagrams, Use Cases, test plans.

But Business Systems Analyst is combining of Business Analyst  with system Analyst .

So What’s the BPMN? what’s the function of BPMN?

Actually’ I’ve already get the answer for my previous question about BPMN and What’s the fuction of it.

BPMN is a method of illustrating business processes.

There are several different techniques being utilised. I’ll give a quick summary of the one’s I’ve utilized.

Archimate – Best suited for modeling Architecture
BPMN – Best suited for business processes
UML – Best suited for software design/development
From my standpoint, they are useful but a good BA should have a good mix of technical and soft skills.

BPMN as a Process Modeling Technique

 

Recently I installed Visio version 2013 that supported BPMN. And it’s very nice .

in BABOK, i read about BPMN as one of process modeling.

Actually I still seek What are the main advantages and disadvantages of using BPMN in Process modeling?

Because i see it have function like other tools. And based on opinion from other analyst, BPMN is very helpful for an analyst jobs.

Requirements Prioritization

In Software Development, this phase is very-very important. Because it will decide the scope of project and successes at the end of project. For project has large scope. If we failed to determine where is the Requirements Prioritization, believe me the project will crash

And currently, it happened with my friend’s project in one of bank. Where their company make a promise to their client that they able to deliver project on time in the short time. But, they can’t deliver it because the condition of project is so very pain. Their timeline is very very short but the resource is still newbie to know deeper about the business process from the system, etc.

Moreover when customer expectations are high, timelines are short, and resources are limited, a business analyst must able to make sure the product contains the most essential functions. She have to able to provide the greatest product value at the lowest cost.

This is the strategy to face it. Where Customers and developer team must collaborate on requirements prioritization. Developers do not always know which requirements are most important to the customers, and customers cannot judge the cost and technical difficulty associated with specific requirements. So needed both of side discuss it together.

For a project manager has to make balance decision about the project scope against the constraints of schedule, budget, staff resources, and quality goals. One balancing strategy is to drop or defer low priority requirements to a later release / phase when you accept new, higher priority requirements or other project conditions change.

Even though customers often not agree with the project manager’s decisions, they must indicate which requirements are critical and which can wait. Establish priorities early in the project will help you to produce best quality product. I admit that It’s difficult to decide which of their requirements are most important

Customers prioritize requirements look from the perspective of how valuable each one is to them. Once a developer points out the cost, technical risk. Just help our client decide it with all of the consideration.
